In May 2021, Zeofixer®, a silicon-based phosphorus sequestering agent, was applied to the water body in the Taiwan Farmers Pioneer Park, Ezhou, China, to reduce the phosphate concentration in the overlying water and permanently “cap” the sediment.
Location of the Pilot Test
The Taiwan Farmers Pioneer Parks are business incubators established by the Ministry of Agriculture and relevant departments for Taiwan farmers and Taiwan-funded agricultural enterprises to promote cross-strait agricultural exchanges and cooperation further, attract Taiwan compatriots to directly invest in agriculture in the mainland of the motherland, and provide more preferential land, tax, and other entrepreneurial support policies for Taiwan farmers based on existing cross-strait agricultural cooperation policies and measures.
The Taiwan Farmers Pioneer Park in which this pilot test was carried out, is located in the Huarong district, Ezhou, Hubei, China.
The On-Site Trial
The pre-treatment total phosphorus concentration in the water body was 0.2mg/L, and the concentration of PO4-P was 0.09mg/L, according to data provided by the local environmental protection bureau.
In May 2021, Zeofixer®, a silicon-based phosphorus sequestering agent, was applied to the water body in the Taiwan Farmers Pioneer Park, Ezhou, China, to reduce the phosphate concentration in the overlying water and permanently “cap” the sediment.
Test Result
Fifteen days after the application, the total phosphorus concentration in the overlying water had stabilized at 0.04mg/L (Removal Rate: 80.0%), and the phosphate concentration had stabilized at 0.03mg/L (Removal Rate: 66.7%).
